Lottie’s tips and tricks for the Yorkshire Three Peaks
With 35 days to go until Challenge Day, Cratus Group’s Charlotte Platten shares her tips and tricks for the Yorkshire Three Peaks having completed the climb previously before.
Having grown up in Yorkshire I am no stranger to the peaks of the Yorkshire Dales, the wonderful sweeping countryside, the many sheep and the (always) sunny weather. Taking on the Yorkshire three peaks is a challenge however, it is one that is largely accessible and very achievable with a modest amount of training.
Here are my tips and tricks for successfully completing the Yorkshire three peaks:
- Don’t rush up the first hill – there is a temptation to rush up the first peak, make sure to take it stead and reserve your energy for the final summit!
- Drink more water than you think – might seem obvious but remembering to drink water is critical, for every hour of exercise you should be aiming to drink 1L of water.
- Don’t go too hard on the sugary snacks – sugar is great, it gives you instant energy, however it then leads to a crash… save those sugary snacks for the final ascend to boost you to the top.
- Remember to look up – walking (especially on uneven ground) draws our eyes to the floor, remember to take your time and look up to enjoy the lovely Yorkshire Countryside and all its wildlife.
